About
Urban Festival Review explores festivals as temporary parts of city life. We look at how events occupy streets and shared spaces, how their design guides visitors, and how gatherings leave impressions that outlast the programme.
What we cover
Our subjects include festival layouts, wayfinding, public space, street rhythms, shared customs and the ways people remember an event. We take the festival seriously as an occasion, but also as a short-lived change in the city around it.
Who it is for
This publication is for curious festival visitors, city-watchers and readers interested in how public gatherings work. It offers context and ways of noticing, rather than event listings or advice that depends on local rules.
How we look
We favour specific questions and clear distinctions: a route is not the same as a destination, and a busy square is not automatically a welcoming one. We explain ideas in plain language and avoid presenting general observations as universal facts.
A festival is also a way of seeing the city
Urban Festival Review looks at the temporary city made by festivals: who gathers, how shared places are used, and what the event leaves in view.
